A weekend would not be enough to visit the treasures of the region…. But the Green suggests a summary of activities that will follow in the Impressionists’ footsteps over the course of a weekend.

Saturday: Auvers-sur-Oise and the Vexin Park

Auvers-sur-Oise inspired Vincent Van Gogh during the last months of his life. Plan a visit to Auvers’ Castle show tour and lunch at the Ravoux Inn. Take the opportunity to visit the Absinthe Museum or to pay tribute to Van Gogh’s memory at the cemetery where he is buried. Get all the necessary information from the tourist office.

Are you looking for more greenery? Get on a bike or put on good shoes and discover the surrounding villages and landscapes that inspired the painters so much. Discover the landscapes of Van Gogh’s famous painting “La Plaine aux Corbeaux”. Or, go up the Sausseron river, punctuated by its many mills and beautiful houses on the edge of the forest, towards the villages of Valmondois and Nesles-la-Vallée.

Take the time to take a break at the Green in the late afternoon before preparing your Saturday evening outing. Do you have a great event to celebrate? Book (very) in advance at L’Or Q’idée, run by Naoëlle d’Hainaut (Top Chef), the first starred restaurant in Pontoise.

Sunday: L’Isle-Adam and Pontoise

In the morning, stroll between the alleys of L’Isle-Adam covered market before heading to its beach. In summer, bring your bathing suits and swim in one of the pools on the banks of the Oise River. Picnic on the banks of the Oise or have lunch on the terrace at one of the city’s restaurants.

Pontoise, city of Art and History, ancient medieval city, its fortress, citadel, cathedral, catacombs, museums, etc. There is so much to visit! The best way is to make a detour to the tourist office located on the quays of the Oise.
